Year 7 students are studying Judaism this term. The classes visited the Bristol and West Progressive Synagogue in Bristol for a morning where they were welcomed by Rabbi Monique Meyer and the warden, Iris Segal.
The pupils learnt about the traditions and practice of Jewish people; including the Shabbat, wedding ceremony and bar mitzvah and the layout of a synagogue. The visit included a sharing of challah bread as a symbol of welcome and blessing.
It was an interesting and enjoyable experience and the conclusion by the pupils was that the morning was over too soon!
