On Monday six students from Year 9 and 10 took part in the HSBC British Council Mandarin Speaking competition at the Bloomsbury Theatre, London. They performed a short comedy in Chinese, created by the students themselves and based on TV cooking competitions.

They also took time to visit China Town and see some of the sights of London. A poignant moment in the day was in Trafalgar Square where they queued to sign the book of condolence for Nelson Mandela in the South African High Commission. Now they have an anxious wait until early January to find out if they are through to the finals of the competition and can compete for the prize of a trip to China.
