On Tuesday 2 February the year 8 netball squad qualified for the 2016 Winter Games Netball county finals. They travelled to the University of the West of England (UWE) to play in a semi-final & then hopefully the final!!

The semi-final was against Clevedon school. St. Greg’s started off with a hard fought first quarter, with excellent runs from Mia and Caoimhe into the circle keeping an evenly matched score. At the end of the first quarter there was only 1 goal between the two teams 6 -5 to St. Greg’s. Maddie & Martha ensured quick feeds into the circle keeping the score close. Excellent strength and speed from Florrie and Maeve, resulting in countless interceptions centre court brought St. Gregory’s to a well deserved lead. The final score was 28 – 15.

Over lunch the students had an opportunity to have a Q&A and photo session with Pamela Cookey (former England Captain 114 caps)

After lunch the girls were in the final against Worle. The girls started the first quarter with strong offensive play, but were 1 goal down. In the second half of the game, after a tactical team talk St.Greg’s came back determined to keep up a strong attack and defence to minimise any errors. St. Greg’s fought hard and maintained a strong lead with excellent shooting from Mia & Caoimhe who stepped up in the final quarter leading to a win 28 – 24
