Earlier this week, we welcomed our MEP hub partners from Gumley House School and Didcot Girls’ School and organised a special tour of the city of Bath, sampling Chinese shopping and culture, right on our doorstep! Almost 100 students from across the three schools took part in the event as part of our commitment to the British Council’s programme.
Students took part in a range of activities including a Chinese themed treasure hunt and walking trail of the city, a shopping adventure in Hondo Chinese Supermarket as well as a special workshop led by staff at the Museum of East Asian Art and completed with an authentic Chinese lunch at Tasty Restaurant. In every venue, students were required to use their newly acquired language skills in Mandarin to converse with staff, helping to improve their knowledge and proficiency in Chinese.
The day was just a taste of the cultural experiences to come for all students taking part in the programme as they look forward to the exciting prospect of two weeks studying in China at the end of Year 8.
