Netball

Congratulations to the Year 10 netball team who remain undefeated against Hayesfield, Ralph Allen and Royal High School so far this season. They have shown great strength in attack and defence, maintaining possession and making incredible interceptions resulting in turn overs. Well played girls!

Congratulations to the Year 11 netball team who have had two convincing wins against Chew Valley and Hayesfield and a closely fought match against Ralph Allen. All matches were well contested with excellent defensive skills being converted into goals. Well done girls!

Congratulations to the Year 9 netball team who played against Royal High school and won. The girls played brilliantly against an older year group showing excellent ability in out manoeuvring their opposition. Attacking play down the court was outstanding, with relentless support from our defensive players against a very tall GS! Well done girls!

U14 Football

Our Under 14 girls’ football team took part in the BANES tournament at Somervale, consisting of 12 teams. The level of competition was very high, including girls that were involved with Somerset and Bristol City. Our team did brilliantly in the group stages winning three out of our five group games and narrowly missing out on victory in the other two. Our results meant we set up a semi-final with the team’s biggest rivals, Oldfield, who we had never beaten.

The girls were outstanding and their work rate was even better. The game was extremely close with both sides an even match. It was so close that not even extra time could separate the sides, so penalties were called on. Even the shootout was close meaning we needed extra sudden death penalties to separate the teams. The goalkeepers were on fire, in particular our keeper, Kacey B, who was the star of the show saving all her penalties meaning we advanced to the final.

In the final we met Wellsway who had narrowly beaten us in the group stages. Again, the match was so close penalties were called upon. The shoot-out went to sudden death penalties again, with Kacey acting like a wall in goal! Unfortunately, Wellsway managed to hold their nerve that little bit longer than us and we eventually lost. Second place in a strong field was an amazing achievement and it means the girls advance to the Spring Games. Special mention to Patsy T who scored 5 goals throughout the tournament.
