I’m delighted to offer to our current Year 10s going into Year 11 a fantastic new residential specifically tailored for students going into their tough final year at school.

The retreat weekend is a brand new idea put together by the Chaplain’s of St Gregory’s, St Bernadette’s (Bristol) and St Augustine’s (Trowbridge) aimed at giving Year 11s a weekend away to support, encourage and enrich them as they begin ‘the race to their exams’.

As Chaplains we truly believe in the pastoral, spiritual and mental wellbeing of young people as key factors in helping them reach their potential. A healthy balance is key to our young people coping and succeeding over the next 12 months. They will inevitably have slips, struggles and feel overwhelmed by workloads and stresses – which is why we have themed our joint retreat ‘resilience’.

The retreat will run from lunchtime on Fri 27th until the afternoon of Sun 29th September and include a whole range of fun and active sessions, sports and games, prayer and worship and a chance to have a go on a 200ft high, half a mile long zipwire. We are bringing together students from up to 5 of our Catholic Schools in the diocese in order for our young people to meet new friends, share experiences and realise they are a part of something much bigger with likeminded individuals.

The venue is Woodcroft Christian Centre, near Chepstow and the cost is £85 per student (includes meals, accommodation, all activities, travel and insurance). We are able to take approximately ten students from St Gregory’s. You can secure a place by returning the permission slip from the letter students have been given with a £45 deposit, or paying the deposit online through the schools online payment system.
