We are delighted to announce that Saint Gregory’s has been awarded re-accreditation of the British Council’s prestigious International School Award 2019 – 2022, in recognition of its work to bring the world into the classroom.

The International School Award celebrates the achievements of schools that do exceptional work in international education. Fostering an international dimension in the curriculum is at the heart of the British Council’s work with schools, so that young people gain the cultural understanding and skills they need for life work in today’s world. Embedding an international dimension in education ensures that students truly become global citizens and helps prepare them for successful lives and careers in an increasingly global economy.

Saint Gregory’s international work includes the Mandarin Excellence Programme, Chinese student integration programmes, Erasmus+ partnership projects, as well as other links with schools across Europe and beyond. Students have the opportunity to meet and work alongside visiting students from many different languages and cultures, as well as the opportunity to travel abroad on trips or visits. This academic year 2019/20, Saint Gregory’s has planned for an increased number of trips abroad to be available for students.

The International School Award, which celebrates its 20th Anniversary this year 2019, encourages and supports schools to develop:

  • An international ethos embedded throughout the school
  • A whole school approach to international work
  • Collaborative curriculum-based work with a number of partner schools
  • Year-round international activity
  • Involvement of the wider community

The International School Award reflects the international ethos that is embedded throughout Saint Gregory’s, with year-round international activity and collaborative work with international partner schools, and fittingly celebrates the broad ranging international learning demonstrated right across our school.
