We were delighted to award several Headteacher’s Recognition Awards this week, to mark the incredible achievements of four St Gregory’s students:

A huge ‘Well done’ to Rebecca O, Year 8, who has gained a place in the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain Under 13s orchestra, a true testimony to her hard work and outstanding musical talents in such a competitive field.

Congratulations to Alanis B and Dilukshy S for the recent success of their poetry work. Both young ladies attend the Saint Gregory’s Young Writer’s Club and have won their first competition with their outstanding poetry. Their work will be featured in the ‘Through Their Eyes’ anthology of poems, and will be available in our library very soon.

Congratulations also to Emily W who was selected last academic year to be part of a group of students who took part in the University of Bath’s Scholars Programme. The programme encourages students who may not normally contemplate attending university to undertake research; tutorials and final dissertations, then hopefully applying in the future to highly selective universities.

Students attended a session at the University of Bath’s Brilliant Club where they met their tutor and were introduced to their topic, completing a range of tutorials during school-time. All students taking part in the programme completed homework which led to a final ‘dissertation’ which was marked according to how a university essay would be marked and graded accordingly. Emily was one of only four students to receive a First for their dissertation and will go on to have her work published in the Scholars’ magazine.

It’s wonderful to be able to share such amazing news of our students’ successes, well done all!
