Location, Facilities & Transport

Location Facilities and Transport

We are located at the southern gateway to the World Heritage City of Bath with beautiful views towards the Severn Estuary and over Bath. Access to the school is easy as it is on main bus routes and next to the Odd Down Bath Park and Ride terminus. There is limited parking on site and additional spaces at Odd Down Football Club adjacent to the school on Combe Hay Lane.

We promote student safety and well-being with on-going investment in better facilities for students. In addition to state of the art teaching and learning facilities, St Gregory’s also benefits from a safe and attractive ‘piazza’ area in the heart of the school; the Gilchrist Studio, home to our specialist dance and drama centre and an all-weather pitch with facilities for football, tennis and athletics. More recent developments include the Gateway Building, a purpose-built learning environment of the highest quality, including a dedicated learning resource centre for sixth form students.  This was extended in 2016 to provide an increased social/study area on the ground floor with a new catering facility.

Lettings

Saint Gregory’s is privileged to have a number of diverse spaces which are now available to hire. These include a variety of multi-purpose teaching and social spaces, conference rooms and sports facilities.

For all bookings, viewings and enquiries, please contact the school’s Facilities and ICT Manager on 01225 832873.

Transport

Whilst transport to Saint Gregory’s is the responsibility of parents, we actively work with parents and the Local Authority to ensure there are cost effective and attractive bus routes to school from within our catchment area.

Wiltshire Council, Somerset County Council and South Gloucestershire Council no longer offer any practical support in providing transport for students travelling to Saint Gregory’s.

The school does, however, currently run a school transport service from South Gloucestershire:

  • Hanham, Kingswood
  • Siston, Warmley, Longwell Green, Keynsham and Saltford

Parents may apply to purchase an annual seat on these buses and pay the school direct.

Please note that whilst we are currently able to offer this service, this provision is reviewed annually and, if student numbers are not sufficient to cover the cost of the service, the service may be withdrawn.

This service is offered in addition to the transport services that the Local Authority is able to provide in the Bath area. Information regarding BANES school transport, can be found on the following website link – https://beta.bathnes.gov.uk/school-transport.

Many students travel to school using the public buses. The local public bus services are run by various bus companies including:
● First Bus – www.firstgroup.com/bristol-bath-and-west
● Faresaver – www.faresaver.co.uk
● Abus – www.abus.co.uk
● The Big Lemon – https://thebiglemon.com/

As part of our greener strategy we would encourage all students, who are able, to walk or cycle to school where possible. A bike shed is available for students to store their bikes during the school day.
