Saint Gregory’s Bath has been recognised in the Ofsted Outstanding Providers list as the only secondary school in Bath and North East Somerset to achieve the rating of Outstanding in three inspections. No other school in the area has consistently achieved the rating of Outstanding making it one of Ofsted’s highest achieving secondary schools locally.

The report, published in December shows that, amongst nine Outstanding schools listed in B&NES, only Saint Gregory’s has been named in the Outstanding Providers List three times since 2000.

This achievement comes in contrast to Ofsted’s annual report highlighting B&NES schools as falling into the bottom 25% nationally for some categories.

With over 1,500 secondary schools making it onto the Outstanding Providers List nationally, Headteacher, Raymond Friel was delighted that Saint Gregory’s was 1 of only 144 schools to achieve such consistently high standards.

“Every school on the list has shown excellence in their academic provision and quality of care and support, but to achieve this over such a sustained period has been no small achievement,” he said.

“A judgement like that does not just happen over a few days and is the result of a sustained focus on high standards over many years. It is a great tribute to the professionalism of our staff, the support of our parents and governors, and the wonderful attitude of our students.”

“Saint Gregory’s really is a special place and we constantly strive to provide the very best education and experiences for our students so that they can flourish and grow as well-rounded, high-achieving young men and women.”
