The day of reckoning finally arrived for our two very brave students, Josephine and Ashling in Year 11 as they went under the razor for their ‘Brave the Shave’ campaign on Friday afternoon, surrounded by friends and family.

All week, Josephine and Ashling spoke at assemblies for all year groups, raising awareness of the realities of cancer treatment and the affects on loved ones. On Friday, we welcomed Kaeti Morrison, from the Macmillan Cancer Support Fundraising Team to come into school for the final Year 11 assembly before the girls shaved their heads in the afternoon.

Quite by surprise, the girls were also called to interview for BBC Radio Bristol and spoke to presenter Laura Rawlings live on her Drive-Time show just after 4.00pm. You can hear their interview here. Ashling also made a special appearance on BBC Radio 2’s Simon Mayo Drive Time show, just after 5.00pm!

And, if that wasn’t enough – for those who didn’t have an opportunity to watch the action this afternoon, you can see video footage below.

Huge congratulations to Josephine and Ashling for their achievements, we are so proud of you. Thank you also to everyone who has supported or donated.

It’s not too late to donate and support the girls at https://bravetheshave.macmillan.org.uk/shavers/josphine-lye
