The Drama Department is launching a hugely exciting opportunity for our students to take part in this year’s Shakespeare Schools Festival. This is a National Project open to all schools in which young people are given the challenge of working with an adapted Shakespeare play in preparation for a performance at a local professional theatre – our designated venues are either the Bristol Old Vic or The egg in Bath.

The performance is due to take place in mid-November when the St Gregory’s Shakespeare Company will spend the whole day at the venue in preparation for an evening performance. We will also be planning for a ‘home’ performance here at St Gregory’s.

The maximum company size is 35 students. We intend to offer five places to exceptional students from our feeder schools with the other 30 places taken from Years 7-10. Auditions for these places will take place at the very start of Term 5. Please keep an eye out on the school website for updates and information. Audition information can be found in the link below.

Shakespeare Schools Audition Information

The cost of the whole experience will be around £30.00. Once we have the recommended play list sent to us and auditions are complete we will send a further letter with payment details.

We are very keen to offer our young people a breath of experience and I hope very much that the students will be as excited and energised about this project as we are.
