Last week, Year 7 students on the Mandarin Excellence Programme enjoyed a workshop led by Bath’s Museum of East Asian Art. Drawing from the Museum’s work on the history of Chinese migration to the UK, the workshop explored ideas of family history and personal treasures. After looking at some cultural artefacts and hearing some stories (for example of Frank Soo, who played football for England in the 1940s) the students were challenged to answer the question “If you had to leave your home country, what item would you take?” The students rose to the challenge and responded thoughtfully and creatively.
