A group of 30 students, aged around 14 years, from Hangzhou Yuhang Pingyao Middle School, China, joined classes with Saint Gregory’s buddies last week, 3 – 6 July. By getting to know each other and forming friendships, students were able to learn about each other’s language, culture and countries. During the visit Chinese students had the opportunity to work alongside some of the Saint Gregory’s students who are studying Mandarin.

Marcus M and Niall B (Year 12) demonstrated their leadership skills admirably, being involved both with the welcome and buddy arrangements for the group on arrival, and taking the visiting accompanying Chinese teachers on a tour of the school.

The week ended with an award ceremony, including celebratory performances from each country. Each student was presented with a certificate to take back to China with them, in recognition of their participation in the weeks’ cultural and integration programme at Saint Gregory’s.

Saint Gregory’s collaborates with a wide range of schools abroad, to provide a broad range of international activities throughout each academic year, ensuring that international learning is firmly embedded within the ethos of the school, enabling students to be fully equipped for life and work in today’s global society.
