On the day when so many were celebrating their love for one another with cards, roses, chocolate and teddies, the schools of the Camino Partnership gathered on ‘Valentine’s day’ to celebrate the love God has for each of us. In this diocesan year of prayer, our schools decided to bring together students from all our communities to pray with one another at Mass alongside the parishioners of St John’s Parish in Bath.

Every one of the Camino schools was represented by students and staff, with many contributing to the liturgy by leading us in the penitential rite, scripture, prayers of the faithful and a post communion reflection. Buoyed along by the ever exuberant Mrs Hull from St John’s RC Primary, everyone sang their hearts out and clapped along, confirming the words of Fr Jeremy in his homily “today is about joy and praise.”. Mgr Jeremy also spoke about the blessing and love we can show to one another in the context of the Camino pilgrimage and the love God has lavished upon us to share. It seemed fitting that Mgr Jeremy also asked us to join him in prayer for Canon David who was having a knee operation that day, and for Fr John Foster who had passed away earlier in the week.

Once again the symbols of our Christian journey – the Camino Banners – were present and processed around the Church for all to see. It was so lovely to see a full St John’s for their weekday parish Mass and for our school’s and parish to come together as one praying community.
