On Tuesday, Music students from years 10-13 were lucky enough to attend the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.

After a long coach journey, we arrived and were ushered into a huge atrium where we were greeted by Kevin Price, Director of Music. He spoke to us and asked us to share our ‘impossible dreams’ and encouraged us all to follow them. Following this we attended a talk at Cardiff University where Dr Nicholas Jones explained the different courses available and the differences between the University and Conservatoire. We were treated to a performance of Rachmaninov’s Prelude by a student studying for his Masters.

Back at the RWCMD we watched a 3rd and 4th year brass recital class where they performed a range of repertoire and received critical feedback from their classmates and lecturer. After a short walk around Bute Park we boarded the coach home. It was a brilliant day which taught us a lot. On behalf of the music student, I would like to thank Miss Townsend and all of the wonderful staff at RWCMD and Cardiff University for such an inspirational day.
