St Gregory’s sporting teams have been in action this term with remarkable performances across a range of sports and specialisms. Congratulations to everyone who took part and represented the school with such incredible passion and pride.
National Schools Netball Competition
Congratulations to the U16 Netball team who competed in the National Schools Netball competition. They competed in the Avon County round on Tuesday 12 November at Kingswood school and came second in the competition against tough opposition. They progressed through to the second round of the National Schools to the County finals on Thursday 28 November. They played amazing netball with incredible attacking play resulting in brilliant goals and centre court play. The defence were fantastic with superb interceptions – the games were incredibly close and the girls only lost by 2 goals to the overall winners which was a fantastic achievement. Well done girls – you were a credit to St Gregory’s.
Squad: Ciara (Captain), Millie, Bella, Mia, Helena, Sophie, Maeve, Ella, Poppy, Raffy.

The Year 7 and Year 8 boys also competed in the BANES Sportshall Athletics held at Wellsway school. The Year 7 team competing for the first time did really well finishing a credible 4th overall with individual wins for Freddie F (7Y) and Zion T (7R). The Year 8 team continued where they finished last year with an extremely dominant performance from the whole team seeing them crowned BANES champions for the second year in a row. The Year 8 team pictured (John K (8E), Benji M (8S), Cormac L (8O), Gio G (8O), Josh N (8E) and Peter C (8E)) will now go on to represent the school in the County finals in January.
Year 10 Hockey
Congratulations to the Year 10 hockey team who played Hayesfield in the BANES final on Tuesday 19 November. Despite being one player down they managed to make numerous attacking plays down the pitch but unfortunately couldn’t convert into goals. It was a close game with Hayesfield winning 2-0 after a well fought battle from St Gregory’s.
