Our group of enthusiastic Year 10 young volunteers recently attended the second session of their course which was led by Andy Clare from the charity HCPT. In the first term the group focused on CAFOD’s World Gifts campaign and ran a successful fundraiser showing ‘Christmas Specials’ and hot chocolate in the run up to Christmas. The money they raised is being spent on buying gifts such as tree saplings and animals that will help the poorest around the world live with more dignity and be self sustaining.

This second session at St Bernadette’s in Bristol introduced them to the charity HCPT (Hosannah House Children’s Pilgrimage Trust) – an incredible charity who take children with disabilities and learning difficulties to Lourdes. Helpers from across the country fundraise themselves to volunteer their time and energy to care for these children on their pilgrimage, giving them an experience filled with joy and love. Our students were truly moved by the values that underpinned the work of HCPT and are very keen to raise awareness of the charity, and raise money that will go towards funding a place on a future pilgrimage to Lourdes.
