When the news of the cancellation of A levels broke, students in Y13 requested the opportunity to mark their last day on site at The New Sixth for now.

Students coordinated cake provisions, which were enjoyed by all, and we shared the Sixth Form Awards as voted for by the students, which provided much hilarity. Tutors and some staff were able to join us and the general mood was defiantly positive in light of the uncertainty around the awarding of A levels. Those in isolation joined via FaceTime and were able to share in the warmth of their cohort; never has modern technology been of so much value!

We refuse to believe that this is the end of our Y13s time in school and once a semblance of normality returns we will be looking to reschedule the formal leavers day and Prom so that everyone can get together again. The sixth form team will also be keeping in contact with all students over the coming weeks to offer whatever support and guidance we can.

Students left, likely nervous of what the next few weeks might look like for them, but hopefully feeling the kindness of our community, once again, in a very difficult time. May they be confident of the unwavering support and commitment of their staff and peers which will help them to weather the current storm.
