“This is a day for our Year 11 students to shine,” was the statement from the Ms Cusack this morning, as she paid tribute to the tenacity, grit and determination of GCSE students as they collected their 2021 results.
Despite the cancellation of exams once again, both students and staff had to strive equally hard to earn and justify the Teacher Assessed Grades. A robust and rigorous process of assessment and marking did not deter our students as they approached their studies this year with incredible positivity and calmness to secure their well-earned grades.
Headline results show an impressive overall level of achievement across all curriculum areas as well as many personal triumphs. 32% of all GCSE results were graded 7-9, an outstanding accomplishment that maintains the strong academic record at Saint Gregory’s. 70% of grades secured a strong pass with an impressive 84% of grades achieving a standard pass grade.
Ms Cusack, applauded students for their resilience and positivity throughout their studies:
“Since WWII, has no cohort of students had to face such unprecedented disruption to their education and yet, despite this, they have shown us all what they can achieve, and they have triumphed. They thoroughly deserve these outstanding grades, and I am extremely proud of everything they have achieved.”
“We must acknowledge the team of staff who have worked tirelessly to support our students throughout this testing process. Their professionalism, calmness under pressure and care for each and every student is testimony to the strength and spirit that is the family of Saint Gregory’s, and this has shone through today.”
Director of Studies, Mrs Tidball, has overseen the rigorous assessment and marking process this summer and wished to extend her congratulations to all students on their achievements:
“I am delighted for our Year 11 students – their hard work in the most difficult of times has been rewarded. I wish them all every success with the next steps of their journey.”
We look forward to welcoming many of our Year 11 students back in September to continue their education in The New Sixth, under the guidance and care of our outstanding team.
