Year 12 and Year 13 History students visited Hampton Court Palace on Wednesday 20th October. The visit enabled students to see first-hand the iconic Tudor Palace

which certainly provided an insight into the lavish, indulgent tastes of the Tudor Period.

Building of the palace began in 1514 for Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, the chief minister of King Henry VIII. In 1529, as Wolsey fell from favour with the king, the cardinal gave the palace to Henry VIII in an attempt to keep his position.
Students engaged with an audio tour of the palace and explored the grounds. The tour provided an excellent consolidation of our A-Level Tudor component. The beautiful grounds and sunshine certainly helped make it an excellent end to the term.
