"...the call to unity is a call to work for peace for all people everywhere."
Unity is more important than ever and to mark Christian Unity Week, Mr Robinson has been reflecting on the different Christian denominations which make up our school community. We learnt about a range of Christian denominations and what makes their church community special or unique and heard from some of our students about their experience of worship and prayer.
This year's theme is 'One Body One Spirit' and the theme reminds us that the call to unity is a call to work for peace for all people everywhere. As January draws to a close, we remember that Pope Leo has asked us to pray for peace this month, in our hearts, homes, families, local and global communities so that it is spread throughout the world.
In other news, the Performing Arts department took 80 students to see 2:22 A Ghost Story at The Theatre Royal, Bath, this week and it was a brilliant experience for all, with our students being praised for exemplary behaviour. Thanks to Mr Psirides for organising the trip. Our PE department arranged a trip to The University of Bath for GCSE students and there was also success for the Year 10 and Year 11 Basketball team, more details to follow.
The Year 13 mock exams come to an end this week and well done to all our Year 13 students for coping with the pressure of this mock season. Thank you to our sixth form pastoral team for looking after our young people so well during this busy period.
This week's prayer focuses on Christian Unity Week and comes from the Anglican Church:
Heavenly Father,
you have called us in the Body of your Son Jesus Christ
to continue his work of reconciliation
and reveal you to the world:
forgive us the sins which tear us apart;
give us the courage to overcome our fears
and to seek that unity which is your gift and your will;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.
