Year 8 Glastonbury Retreat Days – a few photos from our recent days of reflection focusing on pilgrimage and journeys

To every member of the St Gregory’s family, teachers, support staff, office, catering, maintenance and the leadership team and all who give of themselves daily. This is a day we pause to say what’s true all year: you matter profoundly. You show up not just to deliver curriculum, but to build young people who think, question, and care. You see the quiet student who needs an encouraging word. You stay late to mark with care. You create belonging in classrooms where some have known little of it. You model what it means to live the LaSallian values, to touch hearts, to build community, to believe that every single person has dignity and potential. The trips abroad, the assemblies, the pastoral support, the resilience, the laughter in corridors these are not extras. They are the heart of what makes St Gregory’s a place where young people become themselves. Thank you for your conviction that education is more than grades. Thank you for your patience when patience is stretched. Thank you for loving these young people as though they were your own. With deep gratitude.

Y9 have been studying local history and the impact that WW2 had on Bath. Here are some excellent examples from 9O who used primary sources to research the impact of the 1942 Bath Blitz

We are very proud of our 10 Year 12 students who have now successfully completed the Expedition section of their Gold DofE over four challenging days in mid-Wales. Starting at Ty Llewelyn Glamping & Camping near Llanidloes, the team worked their way through camps at Glangwy Farm, Gwersylla Tymawr and an off-grid campsite near Aberystwyth, before finishing at Borth Lifeboat Station, covering some impressive distances along the way. Despite persistent rain for the first two days, the group showed fantastic resilience, teamwork and determination throughout. A brilliant achievement and a real credit to them all.

Our Year 9s have safely returned following a poignant trip to the Battlefields of Northern France and Belgium. Students represented the school at the last post ceremony at the Menin Gate and listened beautifully to war poetry and prayers at key British and Commonwealth cemeteries such as Essex Farm and Tyne Cot. We will announce the winners of the student photo competition in due course!

The History Department and 42 of our Year 9s are starting day two of the annual Battlefields trip in Belgium learning and commemorating about the First World War. We are so proud of their conduct and maturity.

Today we held our annual Year 10 Public Speaking Showcase with another great selection of diverse, emotional and thought-provoking presentations this year. Topics included discrimination, gender equality, meritocracy, and dyslexia. Congratulations to everyone who took part.

Today’s School Careers Fair was a fantastic success, bringing together an inspiring range of speakers and employers to help students explore their future pathways. We were delighted to welcome guests from Creative Arts, legal and tax compliance, freelance photography, radiography and sonography, Bright Field Consulting Ltd, Royal Holloway, the Navy, Lovell Partnerships in residential building construction, City of Bristol College, Bath College, events management, and South Western Ambulance Service, including a SWAST rapid response vehicle.
