'this is my place'
Children's Mental Health Week has landed just before half term and what a great week it’s been. Miss Hollywood, Mr Richardson and Mr Duffy delivered powerful collective worship assemblies on this year's theme, 'this is my place'. Our focus on belonging to a school community is so important when we consider the devastating news of school communities under attack both in the UK and around the world.
Students from all year groups shared their stories about how they feel they belong to our family and a beautiful display was created by students and staff to reflect the theme. During the week students were invited to participate in mindful activities such as creative writing, meditation, art, yoga and a staff v Y11 dodgeball match (with staff winning!) as well as all year groups competing in House Tug of War competitions this week. The gym was deafening at times with much excitement and good natured cheering on of teams. Thank you to the PE department for such a brilliant House event.
Exciting news, our Year 11 boys' rugby team made it to the final of the BANES Cup and played against Wellsway. They narrowly missed out on victory but came a very respectable second place in this important competition. Congratulations to all involved; we are so proud of your effort, achievement and how far you've come as a team.
Year 11 Geographers embarked on their field work to the beautiful city of Wells and members of the public were impressed by their conduct and geographical knowledge. Thank you to Mrs Hillier-Brown and the Geography team for organising this important curriculum visit.
It is now time for a well-deserved rest. Please ensure your child is set up for a successful start to Term 4 which begins on Monday 23 February. They need to be smartly dressed in clean and tidy school uniform. They should have all the equipment needed to learn and have excellent attendance, punctuality and behaviour so that they have a rewarding rest of the academic year.
Loving Creator,
You formed me with care,
knowing every part of my heart and soul.
When I feel out of place,
remind me that I am never outside Your embrace.
Guide me toward people and spaces
where kindness flows freely,
where my voice is heard,
and my presence is valued.
Help me to see the beauty in my uniqueness
and the beauty in others,
so that together we may build
a community of compassion,
where no one stands alone.
Thank You for the promise
that I am seen, known, and loved—
always and completely.
Amen.
