The sun has shone on us this week
It feels like Lent is racing towards Easter and yet this week and next students have the opportunity to slow down, pause, pray and reflect on glowing saints of the past and present as well as how they are becoming more like glowing saints each day. Mr Robinson is delivering wonderful Lenten Reconciliation services for each tutor group in the Chapel and the students I have accompanied this week have been mature, thoughtful and used the time to make space in their hearts for prayer, reconciliation and stillness.
The sun has shone on us this week and there is certainly a jubilant note in the air, especially as we have been overjoyed to take part in annual Neurodiversity celebrations again this year. Mrs Ponsford and Miss Thomas Stone, with several student helpers, delivered a powerful collective worship assembly on inclusion focusing on how we truly make others feel a sense of belonging at St Greg's and the fact that all differences should be celebrated. The key takeaways: Inclusion is not just a physical space in our school. Yes, we have Inclusion rooms where bespoke group and individual learning takes place, but Inclusion is much wider than that; it is a sense of feeling and a way of thinking and interacting with everyone in our community. We all play a vital part.
GCSE Dramatists have performed their final pieces in front of an external moderator and they have worked so hard over the two years to showcase their gifts and talents both on stage and off through acting, lighting, set, sound and costume design. Congratulations to all for your excellent effort and achievement.
New Sixth Scholarship Assessment Day took place this week and I was delighted to interview highly aspirational and motivated Year 11 students from St Greg's and other schools who believe they have the desired qualities and passion for their chosen Scholarship area - Academic, STEM, Performing Arts and the John Baptiste De Lasalle Scholarship for Endeavour. The panels heard about the importance of accessibility in theatre, the need for strong female role models in STEM careers and why we can learn so much from literature about justice and morality, to name just a few of the inspirational topics covered in candidates' presentations. The following students were the successful candidates in an incredibly competitive field: Cheryl Y (Academic), Jan J (STEM), Lucy C (Performing Arts) and Erin C (John Baptiste de Lasalle for Endeavour). Cheryl, Jan and Lucy are current St Gregory's students but Erin studies at another Diocesan secondary school and is taking up a place at The New Sixth this September. All candidates were worthy winners. The panel had a very tough decision and huge congratulations to our four Scholars who will be formally welcomed at this year's Prize-giving Ceremony in June.
Staff and sixth formers battled it out on the football pitch to raise money for the Ben Saunders foundation this week - fun was had by all and all the funds raised help support such a worthy cause close to the St Greg's community. It was a close game with the final score being a 2-2 draw. We are also excited to have a large group of our Spanish Sulis students for their shorter Spring immersion programme - Bienvenido! Welcome!

You have given all to me,
To you, Lord, I return it,
Everything is Yours,
Do with it what You will,
Give me only Your love and Your grace,
That is enough for me,
Amen
Live Jesus in our hearts forever.
