This week in our school community: 22 May 2026
Headteacher's Reflections - 22nd May 2026

The highlight of the week has to be St Gregory's Catholic College Careers Fair...

Last Friday, St Gregory's students performed at Party in the City, an annual event in Bath which brings the city alive with an array of musical styles and genres. Our students performed at The Forum and in Bath Abbey and both events were a treat. I attended the Abbey and saw our young singers in this spectacular setting raising the roof with other secondary school students and what was even more impressive is that they were singing their own co-created songs. Congratulations to all involved and thank you to Mrs Richards, Mrs Sterlini and Mr Singh for providing such fantastic opportunities for our students to showcase their God-given gifts and talents.

Talking about gifts and talents, the whole community enjoyed being out on the sports pitches this week in their House football and rounders tournaments. The House point total is close and there isn't much time left before the winning House will be announced at this year's Prize-giving on 18 June - good luck Romero, Stein, Bakhita and Francis!

The highlight of the week has to be St Gregory's Catholic College Careers Fair, a brilliant event which hosted people from all walks of life who came to inspire the next generation in their future pathways. Amongst those attending were two alumni who came back to the school to inspire our current students into powerful futures - one is in the Royal Navy and the other has his own car insurance business. Such success stories! Have a look at our Facebook page for more details and photos. If you would like to be involved in a future event please email Mr Boutland Smith who did an exceptional job of organising the event.

The Careers Fair was part of Futures Week where our Year 12 students had time to plan for their next steps in a series of workshops to get them ready for their future pathway, whether that is university, degree apprenticeships, voluntary service projects or the world of work. Thanks to the sixth form team for hosting such an important week for our sixth formers - the New Sixth provides a powerful platform for all our young people to step into powerful futures.

As we approach Pentecost Sunday and the start of our half term holiday, I will leave you with this simple prayer:

Holy Spirit,
Blow away the things that keep people apart.
Light your flame of love and hope in us,
so that we can be your Pentecost people today.
Amen
.
