...There is always a chance to learn, grow and put things right...
It has been a turbulent week due to the red weather warning, but that didn't stop us celebrating with Year 11 at their Prom. Everyone looked a million dollars and it was such a wonderful milestone for our students who have worked so hard and been such a blessing to our community. Tonight we say goodbye to our incredible Year 13 cohort who have also been amazing; they have been real ambassadors and excellent role models for our younger students and we couldn't be prouder of who they have become as they go out into the world as agents for change.
In collective worship assemblies this week, Mr Jaggon and Mr Robinson spoke to students about what we can learn from saints Peter and Paul, whose feast day falls this Sunday. Both Peter and Paul are known as the pillars of the Church but both made some terrible mistakes in their life; the key message to take from their stories is that we are not defined by our worst mistake. There is always a chance to learn, grow and put things right. Young people learn from being surrounded by adults who help guide them through wisdom, discernment and compassionate empathy.
Like these saints, we are called to live out the Gospel in our thoughts, words and deeds. We are called to place Christ at the centre and we are also called to forgive - ourselves and each other - when things go wrong. We pray for the intercession of saints Peter and Paul, all the saints and we pray for Pope Leo who guides us on our spiritual journeys.
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for Saint Peter.
Thank You for Saint Paul.
Help us to know You.
Help us to love You.
Help us to follow You.
And help us to share Your Good News with others.
Amen.
