Headteacher's Reflections - 3rd July 2026

Education is vital to help young people avoid discriminating against anyone based on the colour of their skin, what they look like or where they are from...

This week we said goodbye to our visiting Chinese students but welcomed a group of Italian students to immerse themselves in a St Gregory's education. Being a British Council International School is of vital importance in this day and age so that we expose our young people to students from different cultures and corners of the globe, for friendships, tolerance and respect to be developed and to break down any barriers or discrimination which may build without genuine understanding that we are all one human race.

Collective worship assemblies this week focussed on racial justice and equality with students exploring the Show Racism the Red Card movement that began in 1996 and is still going strong today. Education is vital to help young people avoid discriminating against anyone based on the colour of their skin, what they look like or where they are from. Our students have been given the mission to really live out the school creed in their thoughts, words and actions this week.

On that note, there have been several cases of some very poor behaviour in school this week which have been fully investigated and sanctioned accordingly. Please can you discuss behaviour expectations with your child as we approach the end of a busy year. We have many lovely events planned between now and the end of term so it would be a shame for certain students to have to miss out on any of this due to engaging in behaviour which falls short of our high expectations.

On a more positive final note, for our students and staff off on Lasallian camp this weekend - have a marvellous time and 'Live Jesus in our Hearts Forever!'
