A Level success marks the start of an exciting future for St Gregory’s students
A Level results day marks an important moment for students at St Gregory’s Sixth Form, The New Sixth, as they celebrate the results of years of learning, hard work and personal growth.
This year’s students are celebrating a strong set of results, with success across a wide range of subjects and a host of exciting destinations ahead. From university degrees and higher-level apprenticeships to employment, gap years and other opportunities, the Class of 2026 are now ready to take their next steps with confidence.
73% of all grades were A*- C, with 98% of students receiving A*- E and 20% of all grades being the coveted A*-A. Art, Biology, English Literature, Drama and Further Maths students did exceptionally well.
Headteacher Melissa George said:
Today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our students and everything they have achieved during their time at St Gregory’s. We know that behind every result is a great deal of effort, perseverance and determination, and we are immensely proud of the young people they have become.
Our aim at The New Sixth is to provide an education that develops the whole person – academically, personally and spiritually. Today we can see the impact of that in the breadth of achievements and opportunities our students are celebrating.
For some, today confirms a long-held ambition to study at university. For others, it marks the beginning of an apprenticeship, a career or a completely different adventure. Whatever their destination, we know they have the confidence and resilience to flourish. We wish them every happiness and success for the future.”
The school is delighted that so many students are off to prestigious universities and apprenticeships while others embark on exciting careers or gap years. So many have made excellent progress and have either achieved, or in many cases exceeded, their target grades.
This year’s results have opened the door to a wide range of exciting futures, with students securing places at universities including the University of Durham, University of Exeter, the University of Leeds, University College London, Cardiff University and the University of Bristol as well as competitive higher-level apprenticeships and employment opportunities.
Celebrating her success, Lucy A said:
The pastoral support at St Gregory’s is exceptional. I wouldn’t have been able to sit my exams without the amazing teachers and staff supporting me. In particular, Mrs Sarbatta and Dr Brooks consistently went above and beyond to support me academically and personally. Thank you all so much.
The success of the Class of 2026 reflects not only their academic achievements, but also the confidence, independence and resilience they have developed during their time at The New Sixth.

As our students leave the family of St Gregory’s and begin their next chapter, we wish every one of them the very best for the future.
