WHY ECONOMICS?
Economics is the study of how people, businesses, and governments make choices in the allocation of our economy’s scarce resources. Studying economics will equip you to apply economic theory to support analysis of current economic problems and issues, such as solving climate change, the gender pay gap, Government spending and debt, and more.
You will develop the knowledge and skills needed to understand and analyse data, think critically about issues, and make informed decisions. You will also build upon your quantitative skills and appreciate that, when evaluating arguments, both qualitative and quantitative evidence are important.

Three written papers worth 33.3% each.
EXTRA AND SUPER CURRICULAR
It is essential that students expose themselves to as many sources of economic theory, with many books and films that will help grow their understanding, such as The Big Short or ‘23 Things they don’t tell you about Capitalism’ by Ha-Joon Chang. Students will have the opportunity to enter the Financial Times/Bank of England Blog Competition and the RES Essay Competition.
