The intent of our Sociology curriculum is to enable pupils to participate in our interconnected world with understanding and humanity, and the higher-level skills needed for the knowledge-based economy. Through the study of Sociology, students will examine social phenomena that affect people's lives in profound ways.

WHY SOCIOLOGY?
How do societies function? What are the deeper reasons behind our behaviour? Why do individuals have such different life experiences? Sociology is full of debates and disagreements about these issues. You will gain insight into the role and influence of social systems, organisations and institutions such as the family and education. By studying the arguments and evidence put forward by thinkers and researchers, you will reach your own conclusions.
Sociology is a really engaging A Level and you will develop skills in critical analysis, independent thinking and research; skills valued at universities and the workplace.
