We had our very first horticultural sale of plants and vegetables this week
On Sunday 22 June we gathered to celebrate Corpus Christi in the grounds of St Gregory's. The rain clouds loomed in the distance but the sun shone on our procession of the Blessed Sacrament and we thank Fr Bill and everyone who gathered from various Catholic parishes for this joyous occasion.
It has been an exciting week of House rounders and football competitions with all points collected being added to next year's results as we announced that the 2025 winner was Romero at Prize-giving last week. On the topic of sport, some of our budding Year 7 cricketers competed against other Bath schools - independent, state and special - in a wonderful collaborative event hosted at Lansdown Cricket club. One of our Participation Prefects, Sam in Year 10, was a sports leader at the event and he is a huge cricket fan. We are so proud of all who participated. Thank you, Mr Healy, for accompanying our students and giving them the opportunity to work with other local young people to break down barriers and increase tolerance and respect for each other while treating each other with dignity. Do watch Thursday's lunchtime and 6:30pm BBC Points West for full coverage of the event.
Last Friday we said a fond farewell to our Year 13 cohort in a glorious Prom at The Abbey Hotel. Our 13s looked marvellous and had a wonderful evening feasting together, dancing and making happy memories. We will see them again on results day on Thursday 14 August.
We had our very first horticultural sale of plants and vegetables this week - I bought two bags of new potatoes freshly dug from the garden, a basil plant and some crisp lettuce. Our first sale was open to staff only but we have further plans to open this up to the community so watch this space. Thank you to all students who have worked on this project, our Lasallian district for the leavening grant needed to get it up and running and Mrs Bradley for her vision, experience and gentle tuition which is inspiring to see in action.
Finally, I wanted to update you on the work that our Bath Student Parliament reps pioneered last year on knife crime. We now have a bleed kit in our student reception area for everyone in our community to use should there ever be need for it. This is what HeartSpace, the organisation who have installed it, say:
“The kit has been placed here as it is a key community location which we believe is visible and accessible. Our bleed kit units are NOT locked and are therefore immediately accessible in an emergency to provide care within those crucial few minutes.
The use of the kit does not require any specific or advanced training and is designed in such a way that any 'good Samaritan' can use it (a simple to use instruction card is included with all kits).
Since 2023 we, the partnership, have installed over 600 unrestricted public access bleed kits in accessible and highly visible locations across the Avon and Somerset area.”
God, our loving Father,
In this Jubilee year, you remind us of our call to love creation.
Help us to work together to replant, repair, and renew.
Guide us on our journey as pilgrims of hope.
Jesus, our light,
in this Jubilee year, you remind us of our call to love our neighbours and to set free those who suffer.
Help us to treat everyone with dignity; to be fair, forgiving and kind.
Guide us on our journey as pilgrims of hope.
Holy Spirit, our inspiration,
In this Jubilee year, you remind us of our call to grow in faith and love.
Help us to hear you in scripture, to see Jesus in others and to feel united as God’s global family.
Guide us on our journey as pilgrims of hope.
Amen
