Connecting Classrooms is a project run by The British Council, providing teachers with the opportunity to share good practice across continents.

In the week of 3-7 June 2013 we will be honoured with a visiting teacher, Ms Sanghamitra Paul, from MCKV school, Kolkata, India. As part of our commitment to Connecting Classrooms Ms Paul will be teaching English lessons, leading part of the whole school assembly and visiting classrooms. Time has also been set aside for a visit to St John’s Catholic Primary School, Bath as well as meeting with teachers to discuss the best ways of teaching and delivering a curriculum in 2013. She will also visit The Roman Baths, Pump Rooms and have a guided tour of the city of Bath.

Connecting Classrooms is a project run by The British Council, providing teachers with the opportunity to share good practice across continents. It is also an opportunity for cultural exchanges and to pave the way in preparing our young people for citizenship of the world.

Ms Paul’s visit is a unique opportunity for our young people to grow in their understanding of what it means to be a global citizen. At a time when many of our ex students are seeking work abroad Ms Paul’s visit could not have come at a more timely moment.

This visit follows a highly successful visit by myself to MCKV in February, where I was treated to the very best Indian hospitality whilst exploring with teachers the very best pedagogies for young people in 2013.

As well as being an English teacher, Ms Paul is also passionate about cricket. I know that all the staff and students will give her a warm welcome in what promises to be a fascinating week.
