On Friday afternoon, Rebecca O’S from 7B and Sebestyen T from 8C gave up their evening in the glorious sunshine and went to Hayesfield to compete in the annual BANES inter-school Spelling Bee.

After fighting off some tough competition from their peers in the tutor heats and the finals held at St Gregory’s, they rightfully took their places on stage under the hot glare of the spotlights. The competition was exceptionally tough with spellers having to navigate words such as ‘obstreperous’! Despite their gallant efforts, unfortunately neither of our pupils came away with a prize this time but should still give themselves a huge pat on the back for remaining calm and composed in an exceptionally nerve-wracking situation. Well done, Ella and Sebestyen!
