School will be open for Years 12 and 13 only.

You may be aware from media coverage that NEU have declared strike action, which will take place on Wednesday 1 February 2023. The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the NEU and the government over teachers’ pay and conditions, and not because of any issues at our school.

I am getting in touch to give you as much notice as possible about our arrangements for 1 February.

Years 7 -11 will not be able to attend school on the day of the strike. We will be directing students to use the day as a catch up day.  All students have access to Class Charts and Google Classroom which hold a wealth of resources to support their learning and homework.  In addition to this, Year 10 and 11 have access to GCSE Pod and will be able to use this on line resource effectively to revise and consolidate learning.

There will be a limited catering service and the sixth form café will be open.

School buses and coaches will still be in operation for Year 12 and 13 students.

I am sorry that you will have to make alternative arrangements for your child and that they will experience disruption to their education. I understand that this situation may be frustrating and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect. We remain committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our students and delivering high-quality teaching.

We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation and I will inform you as soon as possible if arrangements change further.
