This week we have taken all of our new Year 7 cohort off site to nearby Sulis Manor for their induction retreat day on the theme of ‘You are all God’s chosen people’ (Col 3:12).  Each day two tutor groups took the opportunity to get to know one another better, reflecting on a twofold message of how they are individually stars that shine brightly, and collectively the embodiment of the Lasallian star and principles – the ‘sign of faith’.  Students took part in several workshops including an artwork session focusing on the individuality of each of us and how who we are and, called by name, we are special.  This was followed by drama scenarios that asked students to look at words and actions/our conscience and a reflective writing task which used Jesus’ words that our true treasure is in our hearts to capture the grace of who we are.

We ended the day with the celebration of Mass, however, unlike in previous years the weather didn’t shine on us to use the beautiful grounds of Sulis, looking out over South Stoke plateau.  Instead we trudged back in rain (torrential on Wednesday!) to gather in the comfort and beauty of our school Chapel instead.  We are grateful for Fr Bill OSM, Fr Tibor and Fr Jeremy for joining us and leading the final celebration each day.
