Throughout the year we regularly come together to share and recognise students through our termly ‘Name and Praise’ celebrations, special Headteacher Awards, Tutor Awards and Heads of Year Assemblies, to name a few.
Our Annual Prize-giving is a special occasion that marks the end of an academic year that brings together all of the achievements and endeavours of our students. Many of the awards have been in the family of Saint Gregory’s for 40 years, donated by friends, former staff and business sponsors, and this long-held tradition is a much-valued and eagerly anticipated event in the school calendar. Sadly, this year, we cannot celebrate together as we normally would. However, the unusual circumstances also creates a unique opportunity that allows us to welcome our whole school community to this online event, to celebrate in one another’s successes, and come together at the end of this extraordinary year – if only in the virtual sense!
I would like extend an invitation to everyone in our school community – friends, staff, governors, parents, carers, grandparents, aunts and uncles – to join us, live from this web page, on Thursday 15 July at 7.00pm for a special celebration, where we will be joined by our guest speakers, Professor Sue Rigby, Vice Chancellor of Bath Spa University and Daniel Edozie, Basketball player, motivational speaker and mental skills coach. My personal thanks to them both for sharing their wit, wisdom and words of inspirational encouragement to our students.
This year’s award winners will shortly be receiving a special envelope in the post to open on the evening. I am sorry that I cannot hand these to you in person but wish to offer my personal congratulations to you on your exceptional dedication, hardwork and commitment this year.
